Farmers happy to give land for new AP capital: Devineni

Vijayawada, Nov 11: Andhra Pradesh Irrigation Minister Devineni Uma Maheshwara Rao on Tuesday claimed that farmers in the state were happy to give land for the development of the new capital city that is to come up at Tulluru village between Vijayawada and Guntur cities. Speaking to media persons here, the minister claimed farmers in the state were of the view that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu would be developing a world class capital city. Stating that the state government has been receiving several suggestions from the farmers, Uma Maheshwara Rao, however, expressed his unhappiness over the misinformation that was being spread on the issue of the capital city. Clarifying that the state government was making serious efforts to solve all the problems of the farmers, the minister said the people of Krishna and Guntur districts would be the stake-holders in creating a new capital city. Speaking on the marketing problems of subabul farmers in the region, the minister said the government is making all efforts to protect them by tightening and strictly implementing the marketing laws in the state. The minister then urged the cotton growers to sell their produce through the marketing yards only.
