TS assembly unanimously approves resolution on power
Hyderabad, Nov 10: Telangana assembly has unanimously approved a resolution to put the responsibility on the central government to ensure that the state gets power supply as per the state reoganisation act.
The assembly also approved a resolution to request the central government to bring Telangana state under the 24 hour power supply scheme initiated by the NDA government.
Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao presented the resolutions in the assembly on Monday after a heated discussion on the power crisis in the state.
Earlier on Monday, ruling and opposition parties attacked each other in Telangana Assembly on the current power crisis afflicting the domestic and industrial sectors.
Replying to a point raised by the opposition on power generation at Srisailam reservoir, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao blamed the policies of the past governments of the united Andhra Pradesh for the present crisis in Telangana.
Claiming that there were no restrictions on the usage of reservoir water for generation of power in the past, Chandrasekhar Rao accused the present Andhra Pradesh government for being the cause behind the present power crisis in Telangana.
Accepting the suggestion made by senior Congress leader Jana Reddy, KCR announced his willingness to table a white paper on power situation in the state assembly.
Speaking on the issue, Telugu Desam Party leader Revanth Reddy said his party has always been in favour of an all party meeting on the issue. He also said that his party will always support the Telangana government if it makes efforts to get its share of power through legally rightful means.
