Nine meet with watery grave in river Godavari
Hyderabad, Feb.24: Nine youths met with watery grave and some went missing in different drowning incidents in Telangana Stateon Friday plunging their families in grief on the holy Mahasivarathri festival.
According to the police, on the occasion of the festival, five youths entered the river Godavari at Mulkal village under Hajipur mandal of Mancherial district in the morning for holy dip. While three youths met with watery grave, two others managed to escape death. The police fished out one body and were searching for others.
In Bhadradri Kothagudem district, four youths met with watery grave while taking holy dip in the Godavari at Chintala Bayyaram village. The police fished out all the four bodies of Gude Prem Kumar, Alli Nagendrababu and Tantrapalli Murali and Bhongir Pavan, all aged 22.
In another drowning incident, two polytechnic students went for swimming in the Peddacheruvu at Shameerpet in Medchal district near here on Friday morning. The bodies of Vishnu and Sairam, both 18, were recovered.
