MLC Elections in Telugu States on Mar 9

Hyderabad, Feb 6: Election Commission of India today issued a schedule for biennial elections to Legislative council from Graduates and Teachers constituencies in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh States. The election commission has said that notifications will be released on Feb 13 and receive last nominations till Feb 20. The elections will be conducted onMarch 9 from 8am to 4 pm and results will be announced on Mar 15 after counting of votes. The commission also said that scrutiny of received applications will be on Feb 21 and withdrawals on 23. The model code of conduct will come into immediate effect in the districts in the respective constituencies.

The elections are being necessitated as three graduate MLCS and two Teacher MLC posts in Andhra Pradesh are falling vacant besides one Teacher MLC post is falling vacant as the incumbent members are getting retired on March 29.

From Telangana, Teacher MLC Katepally Janardhan Reddy representing Mahabubnagar-Ranga Reddy and Hyderabad will be retiring on March 29. Similarly from Andhra Pradesh three graduate MLCs including MVS Sharma of Srikakulam-Vizianagaram-Visakhapatnam, Y Srinivasulu Reddy of Prakasam-Nellore-Chittoor constituency and Dr M Geyanand of Kadapa-Anantapur-Kurnool constituency, two Teacher MLCs comprising- V Balasubramanyam of Prakasam-Nellore-Chittoor constituency and B Pullaiah of Kadapa-Anantapur-Kurnool constituency are retiring on March 29.
