AP CM Lays Foundation For 'Purushottampatnam'
Purushottamapatnam: Today AP CM Chandrababu Naidu laid foundation stone for the much anticipated 'Purushottampatnam lift irrigation scheme'.
This most anticipated scheme is launched with the estimated cost of Rs.1645crs. This lift scheme is part and parcel of the 'Babu Jagjivan Ram Uttarandhra Sujala Sravanthi', which is expected to irrigate 8 lakh acres in Uttarandhra.
'Purushottamapatnam' lift irrigation project has received necessary administrative sanctions in 2009 itself. As 'Pattiseema' is completed in record time, Uttarandhra people also expecting the same with this project also.
With this lift scheme 2.5 lakh acres in East Godavari, 1.5lakh acres in Visakhapatnam will be irrigated along with drinking water to 130 villages.
CM Chandrababu Naidu said that his government will work rigorously to complete 'Polavaram' mega project by 2018. Polavaram Project has an assessed command area of 2.91 lakh hectares and power generation potential of 960 MW.
On December 30, AP CM launched most important concrete works to the spillway of multipurpose and much anticipated Polavaram project at Ramayyapeta village in Polavaram mandal of West Godavari district.
