SC deplores conditions in govt schools in Telangana; directs govt to submit plan
Hyderabad, Nov.22: Supreme Court on Tuesday deplored the condition of government schools while dealing with a petition filed on the lack of infrastructure in the schools.
The Apex Court directed the Telangana State government to explain what steps it was taking to improve the infrastructure facilities in the government schools. The Court also asked the Telangana government to explain what it has done on the recruitment of teachers.
Telangana Advocate-General informed the Court that the State government has prepared a plan for strengthening of government schools. The Supreme Court asked the Telangana Advocate-General to submit a comprehensive plan to it within eight weeks.
On the other hand, the Supreme Court asked the Andhra Pradesh government to tell the reasons for the closure of government schools. The government has the responsibility of running the schools in a proper way, the Court opined and lamented that the talented students pursuing the education in government schools were remaining as clerks. The Court postponed the case to February 9.
