Right season to speed up excavation works: CM Chandrababu
Vijayawada, Oct.31: “Excavation works at the Polavaram project site should be geared up in November as it is the right season,” said Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu in a virtual inspection conducted by him today in his camp office. Officials from the Irrigation department, representatives from Triveni and Transstroy attended the inspection.
Officials informed the Chief Minister that 67,786 cubic meters of soil is being excavated on a daily basis on the spillway and spill channel and from October 24 to 28 some 3,38,928 cubic meters has been dug. The daily average of power house excavation is at 14,832 cubic meters. About 43,444 cubic meters of soil will be dug on an average in November to achieve a monthly target of 13,03,320 in the spillway area and 1,84,000 cubic meters of soil will be dug on an average to achieve a monthly target of 55,20,000 cubic meters at the spill channel.
Coming to the excavation work at the power house, 31,333 cubic meters of soil will be dug to achieve a monthly target of 9,40,00 cubic meters. Representatives from Triveni informed the Chief Minister that they have deployed 75 additional Volvo trucks, seven large size excavators and 25 Ashok Leyland trucks this week.
