Rs 160 crore for Science City in RR Dist: Jogu
Hyderabad, Oct.20: Science and Technology Minister Jogu Ramanna today said that the government has decided to construct a global standard Science City in Ranga Reddy district in about 80 acres of land, in coordination with the Centre. Launching a TSCOST (TS Council of Science Technology) logo and a website at his chambers here, the minister told the reporters that it was estimated that the science city will cost about Rs 160 crore and the Centre is to provide Rs 66 crore, HMDA will bear Rs 40 crore and the rest will be in public private partnership model. A proposal on 80 acre land identified at Budwel near Rajendranagar has already been sent to the Centre which is yet to respond. The national congress will normally held in November and the website will have the details and information related to research in science and technology. The website of TSCOST www.tscost.telangana.gov.in will have details of DST, DBT, GoI, regional science center Warangal, national children science congress, programs and competitions at districts and offer skill development training to artisans and artists, he said. The government will coordinate with science and research centers and institutions like JNTU, CCMB, NIRD, ICRISAT and others to have information on the website and create awareness among the students on physics, chemistry, biology, space and science and technology and research. He also said that the website will help the youth, students to get information and details of national Science congress, workshops, seminars, debates and other details. The Government proposed to encourage research on confirming diseases to castor oil trees in Mahabubnagar, decrease fluoride content in water in Nalgonda distrct through JNTU, to procure pulses with ICRISAT and cultivation of Apple and Mulbery crops in Adilabad and Komaram Bheem districts. TSCOST will involve in various programs like science city, 5-D theatres, science centers and people centric programs.
