Srisailam dam to receive 3 to 4 lakh cusecs from Saturday
Following estimates that more water would be received over the next week, the Almatti dam authoriteis in Karnataka is not trying to store water but releasing two times the water that the dam is receiving. At present, Almatii in Karnataka is receiving 1.21 lakhs cusecs of water per day, and the dam authorities are releasing 2.4 lakh cusecs downstream. The dam authorities estimate that the inflow will reach a peak and then slow down over the next week. This is forcing the authorities to release two times the water the dam is receiving. At present the Narayanpur dam in Mahbubnagar district is receiving 2.47 lakh cusecs per day. Further downstream, Srisailam is receiving 2 lakh cusecs per day. This amount is expected to go up to 3 to 4 lakh cusecs per day from tomorrow.
