Prof. G N Saibaba backs fasting Dalit Profs

Hyderabad, June 17: Delhi University Prof. GN Saibaba extended his solidarity with the fasting Dalit Professors—Thadhagatha Sen Gupta and Ratnam --- demanding that the University of Hyderabad withdraw the suspension imposed on them. Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Saibaba alleged that the governments were making University authorities to suspend the professors, who extended support to student movements. Stating that he too was facing suspension, Saibaba said the situation was same in all the universities in the country. Vemula Radhika, mother of Rohit Vemula, who had committed suicide on the HCU campus, participating in the hunger strike, bemoaned that the governments have failed to do justice to her even after five months. Moreover, the HCU authorities suspended two Dalit professors for extending sympathy to her.
