Mission Kakatiya's 3rd phase works must begin in January : Harish Rao
Hyderabad, May 30: Tenders for third phase of Mission Kakatiya should be completed by December, Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao directed district collectors and other officials of Medak, Nalgonda, Warangal and Khammam districts. During a video conference from Secretariat here on Monday, Harish Rao asked them to begin the third phase works from January next. Besides, Mission Kakatiya, Harish Rao reviewed issues such as irrigation projects and land acquisition in the state. While directing to speed up the irrigation projects the Minister asked them to complete tenders process in transparent manner. The flagship program of lakes revival should take pace and Collectors should coordinate with other wings to complete them on time, the Minister said. There is a need for introduction of reforms in tenders whose process should be simplified for speedy completion of the works, he asserted. In case of contractors failed to come forward, the officials can allot the same to respective Village Panchayats to take up works worth Rs 5 lakhs, the irrigation minister clarified. The Collectors were also asked to upload online the works pertaining to estimations, allocations, sanctions made, works grounded and others. Harish also asked the Collectors to conduct tenders for three times and take alternative steps for speedy dispose the same. Since the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has time and again asked to speed up the irrigation projects and those of lakes revival, the collectors work in that direction with top priority, he said. Harish also said that works of land acquisition should be done without any delay besides paying compensation to the affected people promptly.
