T govt seeks centre's help for 2 bedroom houses
Hyderabad, May 22: Telangana Endowments Minister A. Indrakaran Reddy here on Sunday called on Union minister of State for Labour & Employment Bandaru Dattatreya and represented about the urgent need to renovate the existing Hospital for Beedi Workers at Nirmal, Adilabad District and construction of 50-bed hospital there. Indrakaran Reddy also stressed the need for opening a Sub-Regional Provident Fund Office at Nirmal for the benefit of a large number of labourers, beedi workers, employees in the area. He urged the Centre to extend more financial assistance for conduct of the ensuing Krishna Pushkaralu as well as for the ambitious double bed room housing project taken up by the Telangana government. Responding to the representation, Dattatreya assured that the Centre would actively consider taking up repairs to the existing hospital and also construction of a new hospital at Nirmal for Beedi Workers. Dattatreya assured to take up the request to provide more funds for Krishna Pushkaralu as well as the housing project of the State with the Centre. The Union Minister said the Narendra Modi Government was committed to health, well-being and welfare of laborers. In this context, the Centre is addressing the issue of occupational diseases and developing special vaccine for the beedi workers to protect themselves from TB and other allied diseases. Dattatreya requested the TRS government to provide land for construction of houses for Beedi Workers in dense populated districts like Warangal, Karimnagar, Nizamabad, Adilabad and so on. The Centre has already disbursed Rs 10.45 crore as scholarships to the children of beedi workers and also earmarked budget to the extent of Rs 14 crore in the ensuing financial year.
