French say Briton on Egypt Air flight terror suspect

Greece said on Thursday that it had despatched a frigate to the area in the Southern Mediterranean, the spot from which an Egypt Air aircraft had vanished from the radar screens early today. A Greek Defence Ministry spokesman said the authorities were investigating the report of a ship captain who saw `a flame in the sky', 130 nautical miles south of Karpathos. The French authorities do not rule out a terrorist attack on the Egypt Air's Paris-Cairo flight. Going by the passenger manifest, the French say that the lone Briton on board could be the suspect. There were 66 passengers and 10 crew on the flight. The plane went off the radars 40 km short of Cairo airport.
