Eight YCP defectors bypass party whip again
The eight YCP MLAs, who have defected to the ruling TDP, have medically excused themselves for not attending the AP State Assembly despite the whip issued by the parent party.
They have written to the Speaker, Dr Kodela Sivaprasad Rao, a letter each, saying they are unwell and the Chair should excuse them on this ground on the last day of the session on Wednesday.
Their attendance in the House was a must because of the whip and secondly on account of the voting on the Finance Bill on the last day of the session.
The YCP effort to embarrass its defectors misfired the second time, too.
The YCP had moved the No-Confidence Motion last week when, the ruling party without wasting time agreed to immediate discussion, stopping and confounding the YCP in its tracks, denying it a chance to issue a whip and embarrass the defectors.
The Deputy Leader of the YCP, Jyothula Nehru, too, has written a letter to his party chief, Jaganmohan Reddy, wanting to be excused to join the ruling party. Jagan is obviously trying to persuade him to enjoy his position in the party. In the event, Jyothula would not attract the whip, because he has not yet formally joined the ruling TDP.
The truth is Jagan is singlehandedly raising the subject of corruption against the TDP government and doing it effectively, with facts and figures, and needling the government throughout the session.
