Modi's impeccable popularity scares Congress
Former Union Minister Salman Khurshid finds strange powers in Prime Minister Narendra Modi in that his popularity in the country is intact as when he came to power.
Describing the Prime Minister as a magician, Salman said Modi's popularity had not faded despite the BJP party taking a beating. This was strange that while the popularity of the party and its leader should go hand in hand, Modi's was on the rise.
Addressing the students of Georgetown University students in the US, the Congress leader said he did not know if the contradiction between Modi and BJP popularity was a good thing or bad.
It's still 3 years down the road for the 2019 elections, but Modi may still have his bag of tricks in the next poll.
What about the fate of his own party? It would be sad if the Congress did not come back to power. It was therefore necessary for the party to project a new vision, wherein Modi's personality was no factor.
Salman said in no case should Modi be made a factor in the next election. That would go against the Congress. Instead a new vision, young and dynamic, should be projected, wherein the narrative is not Modi.
