PIL seeks contempt of court against AP Speaker, CM in Roja case
A Public Interest Litigation petition has been filed in the Andhra Pradesh High Court demanding criminal action against the AP Assembly Speaker, Dr Kodela Sivaprasad Rao, and Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu for barring entry to YCP leader, RK Roja, despite the High Court setting aside the suspension slapped on her for 1 year. The PIL was filed by Gopalakrishna Kalanidhi who practices in the High Court. The lawyer argued that the Speaker and the Chief Minister were liable to contempt of court for barring entry to Roja in the Assembly. He appealed to the court to take criminal action against the Speaker and the Chief Minister. The court is expected to take up hearing on the appeal on Tuesday. The facts of the Roja case are she was not allowed entry into the House by Marshals following a directive from the Speaker.
