AP Privilege panel for continuation of Roja suspension

The 1-year suspension slapped on RK Roja, YCP MLA, by the Andhra Pradesh Assembly continues. The Privileges Committee, which claims to have given Roja four opportunities to put forward her case, has given its report to the Speaker, Dr Kodela Sivaparasad Rao, recommending the continuation of the suspension on the YCP leader. The committee felt that the remarks made by Roja against TDP MLA Anita were in gross violation of the rules of the House. Therefore, the suspension should be continued. Besides, the allowances that Roja had been getting as an MLA should also be discontinued forthwith. The committee claimed that it had given four opportunities to Roja to present her case before the committee, but she had not appeared before it. The last opportunity she was given was on Saturday last, when she wrote a letter to the committee that she was unwell owing to her appeals for entry into the House and hence she could not attend the committee hearing. As for the YCP leader, Kodali Nani's serious remarks in the House, the committee left the action to be taken to the House itself. The committee appeared to have gone soft on Nani, Gudivada MLA, because he had appeared before the committee and presented his case.
