Govt committed to doubling farmers income, says PM
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday assured farmers that his government would share their problems and proposed to double their incomes.
Inaugurating the Krishi Unnati Mela (agriculture productivity conference), Modi promised that the government was committed to farmers' development. It would certainly do what it proposed to do for the farmers.
He said the former ruling parties were claiming the development being done now as their own. They may have constructed some projects, but the former governments had failed to deliver the results. Water had not reached the farmers despite the projects.
The Prime Minister said for the farmers to be happy, they should receive water in the summer also. The farmers should however avoid water wastage.
The farmers' meet proposes to showcase modern farm technologies and government's initiative to some 100,000 farmers from across the country.
