Congress to put pressure on Centre for AP Special Status: Raghuveera

At last the Congress has put its foot down on the Special Status for Andhra Pradesh. Raghuveera Reddy, APCC president, told newsmen on Saturday that the party would bring pressure to bear on the Central government to yield Special Status to AP as promised in the State Reorganisation Act. Raghuveera said there was no need to put Special Status for AP in the Constitution. So far, 11 States in the country had been given Special Status. All those were simply Union Cabinet decisions. So far as AP was concerned, the decision was already made by the then Union Cabinet. That is why Special Status for AP should be simply approved by this Union Cabinet. He further said the Special Status would be achieved under any circumstances. The party was prepared to put in any amount of struggle for the purpose. The Congress has already achieved ten million signatures of people to demand Special Status for AP. The party leaders, who were bound to New Delhi by AP Express on Saturday morning, would be meeting President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
