ABVP organises anti-JNU rally in Delhi

The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) on Wednesday demanded a transparent probe into the JNU incidents and strict action be taken against the accused students. Addressing a counter-rally against yesterday's protest organised by the Jawaharlal Nehru University Students' Union (JNUSU) in solidarity with its leader Kanhaiya Kumar and deceased scholar Rohith Vemula, the Delhi ABVP secretary Bharat Khatana said, ''The students who hailed Afzal Guru have insulted the martyrs of the nation." Some of the ABVP office-bearers in the JNU, however, had resigned from their posts in protest against the police actions initially. Nothing had been heard of them since. The JNU happenings are now being discussed at the highest levels in the country. The opponents of harsh measures against the students are, however, not able to put forward their arguments clearly and instead clutching at straws. Media supporting the alienated students are merely going into technicalities, confusing themselves and the public. They do not have a counter-narrative to the happenings at the Patiala House court except for feigning injury. Meanwhile, the sedition by day and salacious details of the JNU night are evoking revulsion all round.
