No interim order, HC tells Roja

The AP High Court has refused to issue interim orders over YCP MLA Roja's appeal for a stay on her suspension by the State Assembly. The court, which took up Roja's case for hearing, on Wednesday issued notices to the AP government and the State Assembly to file counter appeals. The YCP leader was suspended by the State Assembly for her alleged intemperate language against Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and women members of the House who came out in support of the Chief Minister. Roja was suspended from the House for a period of 1 year. She had already complained that the Speaker of the House could suspend a member for a maximum of the rest of the assembly session only. Speaker Kodela Sivaprasad Rao constituted a committee to go into Roja's suspension. The committee was tasked with more severe punishment for Roja. Its recommendation was expected to be announced on the opening day of the next assembly session.
