500 BC students going abroad to get Rs 10 lakh aid each in AP
Close on the heels of proposals for the Kapu community, AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday assured the Backward Classes that every community in the BC list would be supported by the government.
Speaking at the second BC loan mela in Gandhi Municipal Stadium in Vijayawada, the Chief Minister assured the BCs that a survey would be carried out to determine the financial status of the communities.
For the BC students going abroad for studies, Rs.10 lakh aid would be offered. Every year, 500 BC students would be sponsored for studies abroad.
He claimed that there was no Telugu Desam if there was no help to the BC communities. That was why BCs were overwhelmingly siding with the TDP, he added.
The TDP supremo further claimed that the TDP was the only party that wrote off loans of handloom weavers. The barber community would be provided with the latest equipment. Fishermen would be provided with long boats. If necessary, seagoing fishermen would be provided with subsidy for diesel and petrol.
With the BC leader Krishnaiah threatening an agitation if the better off Kapus were included among the BCs, the Chief Minister had to make promises to the BCs also.
