Obama okays F-16s for Pakistan

India expressed regret on Saturday that the superpower US had not done the right thing by promising eight sophisticated F-16 fighter-jets to Pakistan. Indian Foreign Secretary S. Jaishankar conveyed it to American Ambassador Richard Verma that the F-16s, purportedly to fight terrorism, have virtually gone into the hands of terrorists. This is a matter of concern for peace-loving peoples. The outgoing Barack Obama administration has signed the release of the fighter jets for Pakistan. President Obama, who got the Nobel Prize for peace, signed the deal on Friday night. Having killed a sheltered Al Qaeda chief in the heart of Abottabad Army garrison in Pakistan, President Obama and his administration should have done better than to give the sophisticated fighter jets either to terrorists or those who harbour terrorists. Such moves raise doubts whether America is fighting terrorism or fighting for terrorism.
