TDP organises emergency meet as MLAs join TRS

The Telugu Desam Party met at an extraordinary general body meeting in NTR Trust Bhavan in Hyderabad on Thursday following TDP MLAs making a beeline to the ruling TRS in Telangana. Backward Classes leader R. Krishnaiah was conspicuous by his absence. He had made it clear that he would rather be president of the BCs rather than as TDP MLA. He does not want the well-off Kapus to be included among the Backward Classes depriving the weaker sections in Coastal Andhra of their quotas. Those who attended the meeting included Telangana leaders L. Ramana, Revant Reddy, Sandra Veeraiah, Gandhi, Maganti Gopinath, Malla Reddy, MP, Ravula Chandrasekhar, Methkupalli Narasimhulu and Uma Madhava Reddy. The extraordinary meeting was organised following reports that some more TDP leaders were also on their way to joining the TRS.
