Rammohan elected Mayor of Hyderabad

Bonthu Rammohan is the Mayor of Hyderabad. He was unanimously elected for the position at a meeting at Telangana Bhavan on Thursday, when all the successful TRS corporators were present. Talking to the media, Rammohan said it was his good fortune that he was appointed as the Mayor by the TRS. He said all the promises made to the people would be fulfilled. The party would aim at meeting the needs of a the cross-section of the people in the city. They would strive to adhere to party supremo, K. Chandrasekhar Rao's guiding principles. Earlier, IT Minister, K. Taraka Ramarao, who was given the additional portfolio of urban development following the pary's landslide win in the city, arranged a breakfast meeting for the corporators. Ministers Nayani Narasimha Reddy, Talasani Srinivas Yadav, Jagdish Reddy, Mahender Reddy and ex officio members attended the meeting. Significantly, the Mayoral election was made entirely a TRS affair. The much-touted friendly party, All-India Majlis Ittehadul Muslimeen, was ignored in Mayor's appointment. The MIM emerged as the second best in the GHMC by holding its own. Since Hyderabad's development has to necessarily do with Old City, MIM's importance cannot be ignored. The civic issues are many and the people notice only the work on the ground. They voted overwhelmingly to the TRS because of continuous supply of current and regular water supply.
