Will Rahul undo the fatal error for revival?

The one-point agenda of the Congress is taking shape. The cult-ridden Congress has to have a figure around which the party hovers. The power centre emerging in the Congress is clearly Rahul Gandhi, with the Sonia Gandhi leadership giving way slowly to the young leader. Rahul Gandhi is now preparing a team for himself. Team Rahul will have core membership of youth leaders who are expected to take the party into the future. Rahul is believed to have already interviewed 600 young Congress leaders. He is at present short listing those closer to his views. Obviously in the 2019 elections, these leaders will get priority. Rahul had been planning major changes since the massive defeat of 2014, but the old guard had prevented drastic changes. Now the time had come for the changes, so the youth leader is having his way. He had been insisting that Team Rahul would be a mix of youth and experience. Mail Today said Rahul wanted a more democratic system and end of the culture of patronage. At least now, there won't be interference from the old guard. The Congress woes are in large part because of the hurried split of the combined AP. That one move had felled the Congress to abysmal depths. Rahul is expected to show courage and take the party along with him to get special status for Andhra Pradesh as the Congress had promised at the time of stearolling the AP Reorganisation Bill. If he could use the Congress strength to get the Speciasl Status for AP, the Congress fortunes will automatically be revived. And the Congressmen down the line can have patronage all over again.
