Youth's suicide adds to Chandrababu's woes

The Kapu reservation issue has taken an explosive direction with the suicide by a youth in the East Godavari Collectorate. Close on the heels of arson and violence in Tuni in the district demanding reservation for the Kapus on Sunday, the youth, Suribabu, committed suicide in the Collectorate on Monday. In a suicide note, the youth wrote pleading for justice to the Kapus in the matter of reservation and urged the government to come out of its amnesia in the matter. The ruling TDP had promised inclusion of the Kapus among the Backward Classes prior to the last assembly poll. Soon after Tuni violence, the suicide by the youth in Kakinada is explosive to say the least. The government and the police were caught by surprise by the scale of violence in Tuni. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu had in fact chided the police and intelligence for being caught on the wrong foot by the Kapu events.
