Kapu meet violence preplanned: Top Cop
Kapu violence at Tuni meeting was deliberate and a pre-planned operation, Additional DG of AP Police Thakur stated on Monday.
Some of the culprits at the Tuni meeting had deliberately set the Ratnachal Express on fire, he added.
The Additional Director-General of Police said the Kapu `Roar' meeting had no police permission. Even so, the police demonstrated restraint at the meeting.
The identification of the culprits was going on. Scientific methods were being applied in the operation.
The top cop announced that he would stay put in Tuni till normalcy was completely restored in the East Godavari town. The culprits would be brought to book as soon as possible, he added.
Soon after the Kapu Garjana meeting on Sunday, the agitators set fire to Ratnachal Express, raided two police stations, attacked an ambulance and two policemen getting treatment in it and indulged in rampant stone-throwing.
