AP leaders couldn't care less for Andhras' sentiments
When you have come to power driving people by sentiment, you will have to honour people's sentiment, too. The Telugu Desam Party had come to power on the sentiment of Telugu pride, but the Telugu Talli statue was smashed during the construction of flyover near Tankbund. As a result, Telangana leaders preferred their own Telangana Talli, though they shared Telugu Talli also.
Likewise, Amaravati was the forced capital for the Andhras. The `Akhanda Jyothi' was lighted during the foundation-stone laying ceremony in the abode of the ruling deity of the city, Amareshwaralayam. The lighted lamp in the temple was expected to burn at least till the city was built and the capital started functioning. But the lamp got put out twice, disappointing the sentimental people.
The lamp being put out twice is causing quite a consternation among the people of the Amaravati area. While the officials responsible for the lamp's burning out are to blame, it is for the leaders to ensure `Akhanda Jyothi' keeps burning.
The leaders know how to get votes on sentiment, but they refuse to care for people's sentiments, once they are in power.
The government had itself declared that the `Akhanda Jyothi' would be transfered to the Trikoteshwara temple in Kotappakonda. The people are demanding that the authorities had better ensure that they fulfill their part of the bargain. Trikoteshwara is the personification of all the Gods, and the place is ideal for `Akhanda Jyothi.'
In contrast, look at Telangana leadership. They have evolved Telangana Talli for themselves and their leadership performed the Chandiyaga for the welfare of their people without parallel even in history.
