Silent killer claims snow-bound family
The unforgiving weather in the blizzard-hit New Jersey has claimed a mother and a baby in their car on Sunday.
The father, Felix Bonilla, got down from the car that got trapped in ice to shovel out the ice and reach the family to safety. He kept the engine on so as to keep the family warm.
After shoveling the ice off, Felix got into the car to drive home, but there was no sign of life in his young wife, Rosa, 23, or the baby, Messiah.
He began shouting and the neighbors came round. They called in 911. As the 911 personnel checked for blood circulation in the mother and baby, they did not find any movement.
The father and the neighbours began wailing. The silent killer, carbon monoxide, from the car did the killing. It's heart-breaking, said the 911 officials.
