Andhra homes can see virtual cinemas

The people in Andhra Pradesh have always been captivated by films. They have elected Natasarvabhauma Nandamuri Taraka Ramarao as their Chief Minister, setting the stage for non-Congress governments in the combined AP. Now, following up on this tradition, every home in Andhra is going to be a virtual film theatre. They will be able to see films of high quality and surround sound with the internet speed of 15 megabyte and 1 terabyte being cabled all over the State. The grid of this internet speed is going to be implemented throughout the State. By June, the people in North Coastal Andhra will enjoy the benefit, and the rest of the State by 2016-end. The progress in the internet sector was reviewed at a meeting under the auspices of AP Fibre Net Limited. The meeting noted that once the grid installation work was complete, village-level MSOs and cable operators would form part of the Internet operations. AP Fibre Net CEO K. Sambasiva Rao informed the meeting that 4,500-km optic fibre had already been laid and work on laying another 19,500-kilometre optic fibre work was in progress. He pointed out that if the people prefered telephone services as part of the grid, they would not be charged for outgoing calls. Besides, if the people opted for it, they could get the latest films with virtual cinema experience in their own homes. For the AP-wide grid, IT giants such as Microsoft, Google, Facebook and other companies have offered their support, Sambasiva Rao added. Another facility under the grid will be that people already owning set top box will have to pay Rs.1500 and those seeking set top boxes will have to pay Rs.2500 for enjoying the services.
