Panel to look into doctor, radiologist petting women patients

Andhra Pradesh Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas on Thursday appointed a committee to go into sexual harassment of female patients by a doctor and radiologist at the Government Hospital in Vijayawada. He said disciplinary action would be taken against the doctor after the receipt of the committee report. The minister was reacting to reports that a woman, who was subjected to sexual harassment by the two medical personnel, choosing to speak out. The doctor and the radiologist are stated to have harassed many women. The top officials, instead of taking action against the duo, had arranged for a compromise between the woman who spoke out and the doctor so as to hush up the affair. It was this instance that came to the notice of the Minister. He was, therefore, constrained to order the inquiry.
