Rohith not a Dalit at all, says ABVP

The Akhil Bharatiya Viyarthi Parishad, which was till Tuesday on the defensive having to take the blame for the suicide by research scholar Rohith of Hyderabad Central University, came out of the shell on Wednesday, stating Rohith was not a Dalit at all. As the Rohith issue was getting heavily politicised, the ABVP mustered courage and demonstrated on Tank Bund, appealing to political parties to refrain from casteist and sepulchral politics. The ABVP said Rohith was not a Dalit at all. He belonged to the Vaddera community. An ABVP leader, Sushil Kumar, of the HCU, had objected to Rohith and other members of the Ambedkar Students Association showing a docmentary of Yakub Memon on the campus, which had started the intolerance debate.
