Judge Prabhakar Rao involved in Gaali Bail case commits suicide

A former judge of the AP High Court, D. Prabhakar Rao, who was involved in the cash-for-bail case pertaining to the Karnataka mining baron Gaali Janardhan Reddy, has committed suicide. Prabhakar Rao was instrumental in getting bail for Janardhan Reddy for crores of rupees bribe. He was subsequently caught in the CBI and State Anti-corruption Bureau net. The ACB had arrested two serving judges for their alleged role in the Gaali Janardhan Reddy case. D Prabhakar Rao at that time was a Family Court-cum-3rd Additional District and Sessions Judge of Srikakulam. He had already been placed under suspension by the Andhra Pradesh High Court. He served the jail sentence and came out on bail. The High Court had taken up the probe after the CBI had exposed an alleged ‘deal’ of Rs 10 crore for granting bail to the mining baron.
