Vishnu supporters gherao Congress leaders

Tension prevailed in Andhra Ratna Bhavan in Vijayawada for some time on Saturday afternoon when Congress leaders -- Raghuveera Reddy, KVP Ramachandra Rao and C. Ramachandraiah -- were gheraoed by followers of Malladi Vishnu, former MLA. The Vishnu followers wanted to know why the Congress leaders were not standing by Vishnu who was arrested in the adulterated liquor case. Failing to get an unequivocal answer from the leaders, they gheraoed them for some time in the Andhra Ratna Bhavan. They alleged that while Vishnu was growing as a powerful leader, the TDP government ostensibly under the adulteration charge wanted to stop his progress. It was a conspiracy by the TDP, they alleged. When the ruling TDP was acting in such a manner, how could the Congress leadership be a mute witness, they asked. The three leaders had in fact arrived in Vijayawada to review the Vishnu case.
