KTR talks of Telugu Rashtra Samiti, to contest from Bhimavaram

Telangana IT Minister K. Taraka Ramarao, who is headlong into campaigning for the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation elections, made interesting comments on Friday. He said his Telangana Rashtra Samiti party would be transformed into Telugu Rashtra Samiti and he would be contesting from the Bhimavaram constituency, where he would certainly win any poll. KTR noted that Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had gone for the inauguration of new Andhra capital Amaravati at the invitation of his Andhra counterpart Chandrababu Naidu. When he was called upon to address the gathering, KCR received thunderous applause, greater than that of Chandrababu himself. This everyone had noticed. After some days, an Andhra Minister and a friend of his had come to him with an invitation for his daughter's wedding. At that time the Andhra Minsiter wanted to know the secret of the thunderous applause for KCR at Amaravati. At that point, KTR told his Andhra friend that the TRS did not mean Telangana Rashtra Samiti. "We are going to change the name to the Telugu Rashtra Samiti. Shortly we are going to make forays in Andhra. If that happens, I have already selected my constituency in Andhra. I am certainly going to contest from Bhimavaram. "Why I have selected Bhimavaram? To win from Bhimavaram is simple. Just legalise betting over cock-fighting there." As KTR said this there were guffaws of laughter all around. Although KTR made these remarks jocularly, it is with a view to winning over the Andhras' votes in Hyderabad, observers say.
