Dasari to join YCP, poised for RS seat

Famous film-maker Dasari Narayana Rao has an open invitation from the YCP to join its ranks and be eligible for a Rajya Sabha seat. The party has promised him a Rajya Sabha seat. The YCP finds the need for a Kapu leader, as the community strength is more than 50% in the State. Dasari's joining the party will cover the lacuna, as the party has no big Kapu leader in its ranks. Dasari seems willing, as he recently praised YCP leader Jaganmohan Reddy to the skies. Dasari also needs political backing following his earlier term as Rajya Sabha MP enabling him to become the Union Coal Minister and the subsequent Coalgate scam breaking on the country. The Coalgate is considered the biggest ever scam. Dasari's role has somewhat been limited in the scam, with the then Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, and the then Coal Secretary taking major decisions in regard to the allotment of coal blcoks left, right and centre to Congress party favourites. The fall of Congress from power in the 2014 elections has made Dasari's position a bit delicate, considering the sword of Damocles hanging on all concerned in the Coalgate. A Rajya Sabha seat, therefore, is expected to give him an opportunity to present his case. In this connection, Dasari and Jagan had a meeting on Tuesday. Coming out of the meeting, Dasari heaped praises on Jagan.
