Committee constituted on Roja suspension

Even as suspense on YCP leader R.K. Roja's suspension from the AP State Assembly continued, the House formed a four-member committee headed by Deputy Speaker Mandali Buddhaprasad. The members on the committe are Shravan Kumar (TDP), Gadikota Srikanth Reddy (YCP) and Vishnukumar Raju (BJP). The committee has been asked to make a comprehensive inquiry into the suspension of Roja for 1 year from the House for her slogans against the Chief Minister and also against Dalit women members of the House. It was told to submit its report in 20 days time. On the basis of the committee report, Speaker Kodela Sivaprasad is expected to take a decision as regards continuation of the suspension, commuting or extending it. Depending on the party line, there have been demands for both points of view. But a year-long ban is unprecedented in the country, let alone the Telugu States. Whatever the dispassionate committee proposes, and the Speaker disposes, is awaited with interest in political circles.
