Silver cover for Amareshwara's door, Lord of Amaravati
Amareshwara, the ruling deity of Amaravati, is sought to be appeased with a silver door by an anonymous devotee of Hyderabad.
Stating that the worth of the offering was Rs.16 lakh, Executive Officer of the temple S. Srinivasa Reddy said the silver would be used to decorate the door leading from Raja Vasireddy Venkatadri Naidu mandapam to Nandimandapam in the Amereshwara temple.
The devotee wanted his name to be kept anonymous. The offering would cover the important door by Shivaratri this year.
It is significant that Amareshwara is sought to be pleased because he is the ruling deity of the Andhra capital.
Hardly a few days ago, silver lumps were found with bus passengers coming from Bangalore to Hyderabad by excise staff. It was rather curious at that time. Were the silver lumps meant for Amareshwara?
