India signs up highway accord with Myanmar
Even as China is increasing its sphere of influence with mutual neighbours, India has taken up developmental projects with various countries. A key project is building bridges on the international highway in Myanmar at a cost of Rs. 378.51 crore. The project involves setting up 69 bridges on the highway. An agreement in this regard has been signed. With Maldives, India has taken up a project to share information on taxation. The international agreements signed include one with Canada on higher education. As for States' development, the Centre is signing up agreements with the respective State governments on railway infrastructure projects. India had to act on the neighbours' front with China taking up underground passages in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
