TRS registers wins in Telangana MLC polls

The ruling TRS registered leads at five of the six counting centres in Telangana in connection with the MLC elections as counting began this morning. Within one-and-a-half hours of the counting, TRS candidate in Khammam, Balasani Laxminarayana, registered the first success. Only in Nalgonda did the TRS face defeat, where the seat was won by Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy of the Congress. Balasani won the election by 31-vote majority in Khammam. In Mahbubnagar, the TRS and the Congress appear to be sharing the seats even as the counting was on. It maybe mentioned that of the 12 MLC seats, six returned unanimous candidates. Of the remaining 6 for which polls were held, five were won by the TRS and the other by the Congress in Nalgonda. In Mahbubnagar, Khasireddy Narayanareddy won the seat for the TRS. In Rangareddy, both the seats were won by the TRS. Narender Reddy and Shambhipur Raju won the seats for the TRS. Detailed results are awaited.
