Wife renews bail plea for Prof. Saibaba

Maoist sympathiser G.S. Saibaba's wife, Vasanta, has appealed to the Nagpur bench of the High Court to grant bail to her husband who was a physically challenged person. Vasanta said in her appeal that if this was not possible, he should at least be put under house arrest. Saibaba was arrested by the police in Delhi last year on the charge that he had links with the banned Maoist party. He was then shifted to Nagpur jail. The Nagpur bench of the High Court subsequently granted him bail on account of his ill-health. Following a review, the bench cancelled the bail on Wednesday last. Vasanta renewed the bail plea on the ground that Saibaba's health was deteriorating. Saibaba is a former Professor of Delhi University.
