Dust storm creates fear at Tallarevu

Strong winds and dust storms are not uncommon in West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh. But on Sunday, the dust storm was particularly heavy, rising to a height of 100 ft. Although it lasted just one hour, the swirling dust storm created such a fear at Shankarapalem in Tallarevu mandal that the people did not hesitate to describe it as a tornado that normally occurs in the Pacific. It, however, remains to be seen whether weather experts would describe the phenomenon as a tornado as such. Whatever the terminology, the swirling dust storm created quite a scare among the people in the village.
