Studying proposal to increase assembly seats in AP, TS: Venkaiah Naidu
Hyderabad, Dec 10: Union minister Venkaiah Naidu today announced that the central government was studying the proposal to increase the number of assembly seats in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
Earlier, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had met Venkaiah Naidu and invited him to the Chendi Yagam to be conducted near Hyderabbad later this month.
Later, speaking to media, Venkaiah Naidu said the two Telugu states had proposed to increase their respective assembly seats.
AP wanted the seats to be increased from the current 175 to 225 seats, while Telangana wanted the assembly seats to be increased from its current 119 to 175 seats.
The union minister said after discussing the issue with the Law Ministry, the centre will take a decision of the proposal.
