Former Mumbai journalist’s NGO buys Dawood Ibrahim’s hotel

Hyderabad, Dec 10: A former journalist from Mumbai, S. Balakrishnan, buys underworld don Dawood Ibrahim’s restaurant after making the winning bid of Rs. 4.28 crore. The Ministry of Finance held the auction for Dawood Ibrahim's restaurant on Wednesday. The former journalist's NGO, Desh Seva Samiti, made a bid for the Hotel Raunaq Afroz, which is now renamed by a tenant as Delhi Zaika. It is located on Pakmodia Street in Mumbai. the locality is a known hub of Dawood Ibrahim. After the 1993 Mumbai serial bombing the CBI had attached the property. After winning the bid, the former journalist said his NGO plans to open an English-speaking and computer institute in the property.
