Centre favours AP, TS sharing Krishna river water amicably
Hyderabad, Dec 8: The central government has today favoured the re-distribution of Krishna river water and limiting the scope between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana instead of bringing in the states of Maharashtra and Karnataka.
The counsel for the central government, Tushar Mehta, in his oral submission to the Supreme Court bench comprising Justice Deepak Mishra and Justice PC Pant today urged the court to advise AP and TS to share water allocated to the former united Andhra Pradesh.
He submitted that the two states should avoid inconveniencing the upper riparian States of Karnataka and Maharashtra.
Meanwhile, senior counsel for Telangana Vaidyanathan sought time to examine the central government’s proposal.
The Supreme Court Bench accordingly posted the case for next hearing on December 10.
