Spurious liquor tragedy: AP announces Rs.5 lakh ex-gratia to families of victims

Hyderabad, Dec 8: The Government of Andhra Pradesh announced Rs.5 lakh ex-gratia to the families of each of the five victims, who reportedly died after consuming spurious liquor in Vijayawada. At least 34 persons are said to have fallen sick after consuming the spurious liquor at Swarna Bar in Krishnalanka area of Vijayawada. Of the 34, five persons died. The remaining 29 persons are undergoing treatment in four private hospitals in Vijayawada. AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu visited a hospital and inquired about the health condition of the victims. He later announced that the government will release Rs. 5 lakh each to the families of the dead persons.
