Hurdles in shifting AP Secretariat to Medha Towers in Vijayawada

Hyderabad, Nov 25: Andhra Pradesh government's bid to shift its Secretariat to Medha Towers at Gannavaram in Vijayawada is encountering hurdles, sources said. Sourcs revealed that the companies currently housed in the towers have objected to the government's attempts to denotify the Special Economic Zone at Gannavaram. If the secretariat has to be accommodated in the Medha Towers, then the government has to denotify the SEZ at Gannavaram. And the government can do so only if all the companies/developers housed in the SEZ need to formally pass a resolution urging the government to denotify the SEZ. On receiving the resolution, the state government will have to forward it to the central government for approval. However, the four companies located at the Medha Towers, which is part of the SEZ, are opposing such a resolution as they will be losing a lot.
