Ad filmmaker to remake Kamal Haasan-Sridevi starrer 'Sadma'

Hyderabad, Nov 23: Ad filmmaker Llyod Baptista has announced his decision to remake the Kamal Haasan-Sridevi starrer 'Sadma'. Director Balu Mahendra made the classic "Sadma" in 1983. The film was actually a remake of the director's Tamil film "Moondram Pirai". In the film, Sridevi played a young woman who regresses to childhood after a head injury. She ends up in a brothel where she is rescued by a lonely school teacher (Haasan) who falls in love with her. Llyod Baptista, who confirmed that he is remaking 'Sadma', said casting director Mukesh Chabhra is working on the film and they are in talks with few big names to play the lead roles. Llyod Baptista, who said the remake could have a contemporary take, has bought the remake rights of the film from director-producer Raj Sippy. He said he is keen to make the film in Hindi, English and Tamil. Llyod wants to produce the movie himself. However, filmmaker Atul Agnihotri and Sunil Wadhwa could come on board.
