Singapore firm to decide on allotment of land to owners in Amaravati

Hyderabad, Nov 11: Singapore-based Surbana International Consulting is expected to decide the fate of landowners in Amaravati. Andhra Pradesh government has handed over the responsibility of re-allotment of plots under the land pooling scheme (LPS) to the Singapore company. The decision was taken as the government feels that the LPS has to seamlessly integrate with the revised master plan that is being prepared by the Singapore firm. The Singapore firm will first prepare a draft LPS layout plan. Following which, the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) will issue a notificationon the draft LPS inviting public to raise objections or make suggestions if any. After that, the CRDA will formally give its approval for the final LPS. As a result, a majority of the landowners are a worried lot. They are not sure as to where they would get their return plot allocated. The government has also not given any clarity on this issue yet. Officials, meanwhile, feel that a better idea on the return plots will emerge only after the Singapore firm submits its revised master plan. CRDA officials feel that this whole process of preparing the master plan and the final allotment of the return plots is likely to be finished some time after December this year.
